The Buffy and Supernatural Episodes you Should Watch this Halloween

Saturday 31 October 2015

As it is Halloween I thought I would share with you my favourite episodes from two fantasy TV series that I watch. These are Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Supernatural.

Let's start with Buffy the episodes you should be watching this Halloween are:
Hush S04E10
This episode has to be the creepiest one of Buffy ever made. In "Hush", a group of fairy tale ghouls named "The Gentlemen" come to town and steal everyone's voices, leaving them unable to scream when The Gentlemen cut out their hearts. Buffy and her friends must communicate with one another silently as they try to discover why no one can speak and find whoever is murdering the townspeople. They must also find ways to express their feelings about each other and keep some semblance of control as the town descends into chaos.

Conversations With Dead People S07E07
Buffy has a conversation with a vampire who once went to Sunnydale High, and learns something interesting about Spike. Joyce materialises to Dawn in the living room. The ghost of Cassie brings a message to Willow from beyond the grave. Meanwhile, Andrew and Jonathan have returned to Sunnydale on a mission to save the town.

Halloween S02E06
Aptly named this episode involves Buffy and the gang dressing up for Halloween to take children trick or treating and then getting turned into whatever their costume is. Then unfortunately after all this they get attacked by a group of vampires.

Welcome to the Hellmouth S01E01
The pilot episode Buffy is the Slayer she alone can stand against the vampires the demons and the forces of darkness. She !loves to Sunnydale where the school just happens to be over the Hellmouth.
Helpless S03E12
As her birthday approaches, Buffy loses her slayer powers and must do battle with a vampire who is not only extremely powerful but also quite mad.

Gingerbread S03E011
After discovering the corpses of two young children bearing a symbol linked to the occult, Joyce spearheads a campaign to rid Sunnydale of witches.
Once More With Feeling S06E07
Probably not the scariest episode of Buffy but it's one of my favourite ones! Sunnydale is alive with the sound of music as a mysterious force causes everyone in town to burst into full musical numbers, revealing their innermost secrets as they do. But some townsfolk are dancing so much that they simply burst into flames, and it becomes clear that maybe living in a musical isn't so great after all.
The Gift S05E22
As Glory prepares Dawn for a bloodletting ritual that will open a portal to another dimension, Buffy and her friends prepare for battle. Such a sad yet butt kicking episode!
Bargaining S06E01
Buffy is dead, and the Scooby Gang must do the best they can without her. But concern about the way she died leads Willow to believe that she may have been pulled into a hell dimension. Unable to bear the thought of their friend enduring eternal torment, Willow, Xander, Anya, and Tara decide to perform a resurrection spell that will bring Buffy back from the dead.
Killed By Death S02E18
While hospitalized with a severe case of the flu, Buffy battles a demon that sucks the life out of sick children.

Those are my top ten episodes of Buffy now onto Supernatural.

Pilot S01E01
The episode that started off everything.
The Supernatural pilot introduces the characters of Sam and Dean Winchester, brothers who travel throughout the country hunting supernatural creatures, as they battle a ghostly Woman in White while searching for their missing father.
Everybody Loves a Clown S02E02
Sam and Dean listen to a message on John's cell phone from a woman named Ellen decide to track her down. They are shocked to discover Ellen runs a road house that also serves as a gathering place for hunters like themselves. Meanwhile, at a small town carnival, a demonic clown is persuading children to let it into their home so he can murder their parents.
All Hell Breaks Lose S02E22
Dean hits an emotional rock bottom after a devastating personal loss. The Yellow Eyed Demon begins a calculated strategic move to unleash the armies of hell.
No Rest For the Wicked S03E16
Dean's time is up and he has to pay the Devil his due. When Lilith resurfaces in New Harmony, Indiana terrorizing a family to no end Sam, Dean, and Bobby steal Ruby's knife and confront the mother of all demons in a battle to the death.
Bedtime Stories S03E05
The 'Three Little Pigs' and 'Hansel and Gretel' come to life and attract Sam and Dean's attention to Maple Springs, NY, where they try to prevent 'Little Red Riding Hood', 'Cinderella', and 'Snow White' from having unhappy endings. Sam also confronts the Crossroad Demon with the newly refurbished Colt.
The Monster at The End of This Book S04E18
An author has been writing books about Sam and Dean since 2005. Sam and Dean try to figure out how he knows so much about them.
Fan Fiction S10E05
Sam and Dean investigate a haunting at a theatre in a high school where the musical happens to be based on the Supernatural books written about their lives.
In The Beginning S04E03
Castiel sends Dean back in time to 1973 where he encounters younger versions of his parents and for the first time meets his grandfather Samuel Campbell who holds a secret that sheds a light on the Winchester Family's connection to the hunter community.
Monster Movie S04E05
It's Halloween time and the Winchesters face-off against a shapeshifter with a penchant for impersonating classic movie monsters like Dracula, the Wolfman, and the Mummy.
The Curious Case of Dean Winchester S05E07
Sam and Dean discover that a witch is running a high-stakes poker game where the currency is life years vs. money. Bobby sees the game as a chance to get out of the wheelchair and bets 25 years, but loses. As Bobby begins to age rapidly, Dean steps in to save him but also ends up turning into an old man, leaving Sam holding the only hopes for their survival.
Changing Channels S05E08
Sam and Dean catch up with the Trickster, who sends them through a dizzying montage of TV show parodies, inviting them to play along with their "roles" or be stuck in "TV Land" forever. But once Castiel shows up, the boys get an idea as to what the Trickster might be hiding and eventually come up with a surprising answer.

So those are my favourite episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Supernatural that I feel would make good Halloween watches. There were SO many more I could have picked but I tried to limit it to around 10 each.

If you watch these shows which episodes are your favourites? Which do you think would be good to watch for Halloween?

Cohorted October Box Review

Thursday 29 October 2015

Better late than never here is my review of the October Cohorted box.
This was the first beauty box I have had from Cohorted and I managed to get it before they changed the boxes to subscription so this box was £20.

The new boxes they do now are £35 pound a month subscription there is the black box which is typically make up and the white box which is perfumes you can check these out here.

The October box has a value of £65.99 and this is what was in it:

Ciate Nailpolish in Serendipity RRP: £9.00
This is a glittery red colour which would make a great top coat over another colour.
I imagine around Christmas time this will be the perfect colour to put over a red or black nail polish.

Bare Minerals Purely Nourishing Cream 30ml RRP: £10.00
This cream has a very lightweight feel and as I suffer from very dry skin this will be perfect.

Bare Minerals Purifying Facial Cleanser 60ml RRP: £15.00
I haven't used this product yet and I was abit gutted upon finding this in the box as I had just bought the Benefit Foaming Facial Cleanser the day before!

Peter Thomas Roth Lashes To Die For Mascara RRP: £15.00
You can never have too many mascaras that is all I will say. This Mascara has a thing brush so if you want volume you will need to layer it with a Mascara with a thick brush.

Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss in Hypnotist RRP: £16.99
Another one I have not tried however I did swatch it on my hand and this really is a strange colour. It changes in the light and is a peachy pink colour. Not sure where I would wear this but it is a very interesting colour.

Overall my opinion of the box was a positive one but I was disappointed that 3 of the 5 products were from the same brand. I had seen previous boxes that had alot more variety of brands and this box didn't inspire me to subscribe to the new higher price boxes.

However it definitely was value for money and there are some great everyday products in there.

What did you all think of the October box? Have you subscribed to any of the new boxes?

The Botanist Restaurant Review

Monday 26 October 2015

While in Birmingham this weekend visiting the new 'Grand Central' part of the station I went with my friend to The Botanist restaurant.
The decor was stunning a mixture of chandeliers, wooden furnitur, lights put together with different coloured glasses and ornate windows.

Even the menu is laid out eloquently and on each table is a book with loads of different ales in. What a cute idea! The restaurant had alot of different drinks lined up behind the bar and had a menu full of cocktails. Had I not been driving I would have most definitely divulged!

Above are some selfies in the restaurant and a few pictures of the decor (I couldn't take too many pictures with my camera for fear of looking rather strange).
Now onto the important part the food! I ordered chicken and chorizo pie which came with chips, mushy peas and gravy. For a drink I got the 'watermelon dew'

Just look at the presentation so beautifully laid out. The chips were seasoned to perfection, there was nothing I could fault with the food and the drink was so refreshing!!

Next time you are in Birmingham whether it be for a night out or for food you should definitely check out The Botanist. I just could not fault it!!

Why Point Horror is a Classic

When I was younger the Point Horror series was all the rage! Horror books aimed at young teenagers about teenagers getting attacked or stalked etc. What young person who enjoys a scary story would not love these!?

Over the years I have managed to collect nearly all the Point Horrors (I got a job lot on eBay for £20 bargain!) and with Halloween approaching I wanted to explain why they remain the ultimate creepy stories.

- Most of the plotlines are believable. What could be more scary than a story that could actually happen?
- They follow the horror genre/make up of most scary films. Look at the majority of horror films out now there will be a point horror book that relates even if its on a basic level.
- They created a massive market in horror books for teenagers.
- They're quick reads not too long.
- They aren't overcomplicated. Most of the horror stories or films being released nowadays try to be too clever almost to the point where the audience is confused or thinking what was the point!?
- There has not been another horror series like this one leaving a massive gap in the market.
- Each story is completely different and there are so many of them to read!
- They're based in settings relevant to the age group e.g. schools, on dates.

The photo at the top shows some of my favourite point horror books and below is my collection:

If you want a book to read this Halloween I challenge you to read one of the Point Horror Series! There is so many to choose from that there will be a story for everyone!

Drawing For Beginners- Week 3 - Objects and Perspectives

Tuesday 20 October 2015

This week was hard! Even harder than the skeleton which I could not believe was possible!

This week was all about two point perspectives which means drawing objects that are going in different directions or that are at different angles. You had to put your 'vanishing point' on the paper and draw from that.

I decided against that purely because I could not figure out where it went and the perspective of the objects that I wanted to draw was head on.

As you can see I chose to draw a stuffed toy dog sat on a chair (for some reason I thought a chair would be easy to draw!)

Not my best work from the classes but I learnt a lot about shading. For example the fur on the dog is created by shading him in then using a rubber to erase gaps to show light. Then you draw in tiny lines and repeat.

Also using this technique with the shading and erasing  to show the curves of the chair.

Here are my blogs from Week 1 and Week 2

Anyone got any good drawing tips?

Mug Cake

Sunday 18 October 2015

I'm a big fan of cakes and baking so when I saw that they were selling Mug Cakes I could not wait to try one. I got the chocolate chip one.

What you do is you mix the mixture with 4 tablespoons of milk till smooth and then bake in the microwave for 1 minute 20 seconds.

Then voilà the cake is baked easy and simple. As you can see I used a Mug that was far too big for the cake but overall it was very tasty obviously not the same as oven baked cakes but tasty non the less.

Also a moment of appreciation for my Disney Mug. I love anything Disney!
Have any of you tried these Mug Cakes ? What did you think?
