Automatically Pre-Ordered Books 2021

I have really got back into reading recently and I am currently trying to catch up with what books are popular and highly recommended.

2021 looks to be a fantastic year of book releases with many titles already available to pre-order! I thought I would share with you all the titles I have pre-ordered this year so far!

The Last Graduate - Naomi Novik

I absolutely adored A Deadly Education which is the first book in this series, it was bought for me as a Christmas gift and I knew nothing about the plot. I finished the book within two days of starting it, I could not put it down! So pre-ordering the sequel was one of the first things I did.

The Last Graduate follows main characters El, Orion and the other students who are faced with their final year and the looming graduation. As the rules of Scholomance state there are two ways out once inside you either graduate or you die. El is convinced her chosen group will survive even as the savagery of the school ramps up. However El realises sometimes winning the game means throwing out all the rules!

If you have not read A Deadly Education yet I highly recommend it it was one of my favourite reads of 2020!

Once Upon a Broken Heart - Stephanie Garber

As a massive fan of the Caraval series I instantly pre-ordered a signed edition of Once Upon a Broken Heart from Waterstones. Set in the same universe of Caraval this book is going to focus on the Prince of Hearts Jacks and new character Evangeline Fox who works in her fathers curiosity shop. She is aware how dangerous bargains with the immortals can be however when the love of her life is about to marry another she becomes desperate enough to offer the Prince of Hearts whatever he wants to stop the wedding.

He asks for 3 kisses however after the first kiss she realises that he wants far more from her than she bargained for. His plans for her could either end in her greatest happily ever after or her greatest tragedy.

I loved Jacks character in the Caraval series and I am looking forward to a book based around him and a new character.

A Court of Silver Flames - Sarah J Maas

I must admit I am a recent convert to the Court of Thorns and Roses series! I am currently on book two but I have fallen in love with the world and its characters, this enticed me to pre-order this book despite still being a few books behind.

I am not going to list the plot for this one here as I do not want to ruin the story for myself. Hopefully I can finish the other books in the series before this one arrives! If you want to read the plot you can check it out here.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets MinaLima Edition

I am not sure much needs to be said here  on the plot we all know the story and I am sure we all love the Harry Potter books! I ordered the MinaLima edition of the Philosopher's Stone and the artwork was incredibly stunning, when I heard they would be releasing the Chamber of Secrets with artwork relating to the story as well it instantly went into my basket!

Under the Whispering Door - TJ Klune

After the hype of The House in The Cerulean Sea (of which I have just pre-ordered the paperback) TJ Klune's next book Under the Whispering Door is highly anticipated.

The story follows Wallace Price who is collected by a reaper from his own funeral, instead of leading him directly to the afterlife the reaper leads Wallace to a tea shop run by a man named Hugo. While being the tea shop owner he is also the ferryman to souls who need to cross over.

However Wallace isn't ready to give up the life he barely lived and with Hugo's help he starts to learn about the things he missed in life.

When the manager arrives and gives Wallace one week to cross over, Wallace sets about living a lifetime in seven days.

I love the sound of the plot of this book and I cannot wait to read it along with The House in the Cerulean Sea.

Lore - Alexandra Bracken

A book I have seen hyped all over Instagram and TikTok, this is definitely a case of social media made me order it. Based on Greek Mythology the story centers around a game called Agon used by Zeus to punish the gods making them mortal for one week leaving them at the mercy of being hunted by those with godly ambitions. Only a handful of the original Greek Gods remain the rest have been replaced by the humans that killed them and ascended.

The story follows Lore who escapes after her family's brutal murder by a rival bloodline, after this she vows to repay her family's sacrifice by surviving. For seven years she tries to forget the man who murdered her family - Wrath who has now attained unimaginable power - except for one week every year.

That is until she comes home to find Athena gravely wounded on her doorstep, the goddess offers her an alliance as they have a mutual enemy after all. But as the world trembles under the powers of Wrath will Lore's regret her decision to bind her fate with Athena's?

I love the idea of the plotline of this story and after seeing the cover all over social media I caved. This book should hopefully be arriving on the 3rd potentially before this blog has been posted.
