Halloween Themed Cakes

Saturday, 10 October 2015

I know it's too early to be talking about Halloween yet I mean it is a few weeks away but I saw the recipe for these witches cauldron cakes and I couldn't wait that long to bake them.

I thought I would share with you the technique to bake these Halloween themed cakes.
First off these are the ingredients you will need:

For the cakes:
- 6 ounces Caster Sugar
- 6 ounces Self Raising flour
- 6 ounces Butter (I used the Stork perfect for cakes)
- 3 eggs

For the Decoration:
- Icing sugar
- Black Fondant Icing
- White Fondant Icing
- Black cake Cases (important)
- Green Food Colouring
- Vanilla Extract
- Strawberry Laces

First off mix the Sugar and Butter in a bowl together until smooth then add your eggs  and flour and again mix until the mixture is smooth.

When this is done spoon out the mixture into the black cake Cases and cook in the oven at 160 degrees till cooked.

Once the cakes are cooled time to decorate! Create your buttercream Icing by mixing 3ounces of Icing sugar with 2 ounces of Butter till smooth then add your green food colouring and a teaspoon of Vanilla Extract.
Spread this on the cakes in a circle in the middle. Then roll out your black Fondant into a circle around the edge of the Icing like the rim of a cauldron.

Time for the decorations for the contents of the cauldron using the white Fondant roll into balls and add a dot of the black Fondant on to create the pupil for the eyes then place in the green Icing. Also break your Strawberry Laces into bits and place into the Icing to look like body parts.

Then voilĂ  you have your Halloween themed witches cauldron cakes.

I also bought a ghost cutter to make cookies I will let you know how that goes shortly.

Are you a Halloween fan? Have you baked any Halloween themed treats?
